If your employer has a safety-eyewear program, you can use it here. One rule for both programs: you must bring the pre-approval letter (job order form) issued by your company — it tells us exactly what’s covered, and we can’t start an order without it. Once we have it, we handle the rest: frame selection, certified lenses, ordering and billing back to the program.

Four simple steps, one visit for most people.
Ask your safety manager or HR for your program’s pre-approval letter — the Eyesafe™ job order form, or your SafeVision authorization. It shows what your employer covers (frame allowance, lens type, coatings) and how often you can get a new pair. We need it in hand before we can process anything.
Bring a current prescription, or book an eye exam with our on-site optometrist. Many programs cover the exam; otherwise it’s $99 for adults.
We match a certified frame — CSA Z94.3-marked where your site requires it — to your face, your prescription and your job’s hazards: close-fit frames with integrated side shields, sealed frames, or contemporary styles that still meet the standard.
Certified lenses are lab-made, so we can’t give an exact date — timing depends on the frame, lens type and lab queue, and some orders take up to 3 weeks. Plan accordingly if your current pair is on its last legs. We call the moment they arrive, adjust the fit, confirm the side shields and markings, and bill the program directly.
Regular eyeglasses are not designed to stop flying debris. Certified safety glasses are built and tested as a system — frame, lenses and side shields together.
Polycarbonate or Trivex lenses that absorb high-velocity impact instead of shattering. Both are lighter than standard plastic and block 100% of UV.
Integrated or permanently attached side protection closes the gap at your temples where particles and splashes get in. Clip-ons on a regular frame don’t count.
Safety frames are tested to CSA Z94.3 and/or ANSI Z87.1 and carry the marking on the frame. Where your site requires CSA, we select a frame with the CSA mark and confirm it at pickup so you’re compliant on day one.
In Alberta, employers generally specify CSA Z94.3 — the standard named in the Alberta OHS Code, Part 18 (Personal Protective Equipment). Many frames are certified to both standards, but not all: some catalogue styles are ANSI-only, and CSA compliance also requires fixed side shields. We’ll make sure yours carries the marking your site requires.

The American equivalent, common on frames made for the US market. Widely accepted, but if your site or job order says CSA, the frame needs the CSA mark — not just Z87.1. Ask us and we’ll confirm.
Anyone who wears a prescription and works where there is a risk of eye injury. Wearing safety goggles over regular glasses is uncomfortable, fogs up and slips — a dedicated prescription pair is safer and easier to wear all shift.
Safety glasses don’t have to mean basic lenses. Most everyday lens upgrades are available in certified safety form.

We can’t process an Eyesafe order without it; once we have it, we handle the fitting, ordering and paperwork.
Yes. We accept SafeVision corporate prescription safety-eyewear programs. SafeVision is a division of Hoya Vision Care; its eyewear is tested to ANSI Z87.1, with CSA Z94.3 options for Canadian sites. Bring the pre-approval letter from your employer’s SafeVision program — it’s required before we can start — and we fit, order and bill the program directly.
Your employer’s pre-approval letter (Eyesafe job order form or SafeVision authorization) — required for any program order — and a current glasses prescription, usually less than two years old. Generally, yes. Where a worker’s eyes could be injured, Alberta’s OHS Code (Part 18, Personal Protective Equipment) requires properly fitting eye protection approved to CSA Z94.3 and suited to the hazard. Your employer sets the exact requirement; if you wear a prescription, that means prescription safety glasses or certified over-goggles.
For CSA Z94.3 compliance, yes — side protection must be fixed or integrated into the frame. Close-fit and sealed frames build it in; contemporary flat frames need permanently attached shields. Clip-on shields on a regular eyeglass frame don’t make it certified safety eyewear.

If you want safety glasses for personal projects, you pay directly and can use your vision benefits.
Yes — single vision, bifocal and progressive safety lenses are all available in polycarbonate or Trivex. Progressives are popular with supervisors and tradespeople who read plans and screens as well as work at distance.

If you’re paying yourself, prescription safety glasses are prescription eyewear, so most vision benefits cover them like any glasses — we direct bill over 30 providers. Self-paid prescription eyewear may also qualify for the CRA medical expense tax credit; keep your receipt and confirm with your tax preparer. Employer-paid pairs aren’t deductible for you.
There’s no printed expiry, but safety glasses should be replaced when lenses are scratched or pitted, the frame is cracked or loose, side shields are damaged, or your prescription changes. Most employer programs allow a new pair on a set cycle — often every one to two years — check your pre-approval letter.
